Crafton Stud Farm Cottages

Crafton Stud Farm Cottages Website

The site promotes a growing cottage rental business located in Buckinghamshire. Its current market is not the typical holiday market, but more aimed at visitors to the area for personal (friends and family) stays and business people working in Milton Keynes and the surrounding districts.

The site is an upgrade to an original 2 page holding site produced by the owners and aims to :-

Photographs and a combination of new and text rewritten from the original website design were provided by DGD Consulting.

The Grooming Studio

Grooming Studio Website

A pet grooming and dog hotel business looking to promote itself better to clients and act as a introductory reference site for new clients. A major requirement was to emphasise the “non-kennel" approach to day care and overnight stays for the dogs, the large open areas available for exercise and the rural location of the business.

The site has pages that advertise each of the services provided and the corresponding experience of the staff to carry out those services. The website had to be attractive to other dog owners who are looking for somewhere to leave their animals, so it was important that the site gave a professional look but with a human caring touch. In addition to the formal text there are a number of “contented” animal pictures, a testimonial page and a photo gallery with humorous captions.

The business already had promotional literature, and the site look and feel was based on that material. Graphics have been taken from that material to use in the heading banner and in the menu bars.

DN Hypnotherapy

DN Hypnotherapy Website

A Reading based hypnotherapy consultancy.

The web design needs to promote confidence in the business to people who perceive they already have problems. The site look and feel needs to be relaxing whilst the content has to promote the professionalism of the consultancy and reassurance that the consultancy fully understands their problem and can solve it.

Blue was chosen as a professional colour, but in a light shade to be calming and unthreatening. The left-hand side contains a vertical “natural scene” picture to provide continuity and a relaxing interest down the page. The footer of the page contains the logo of the overseeing professional body to confirm competency.

The site has pages dedicated to individual topics, with a catch all page for other problems. There is a contact page and for enquires, and a mail form for email communication.

Pricing is included on the topic pages, but there is no automatic booking facility as the practitioners wish to talk to their clients initially before planning a course of treatment.

Sunshine Employment Consultants

Sunshine Employment Consultants

The materials contained on this website were designed for delivery to second-year undergraduate students in the Business School of the University of Reading. The materials are also available for use by other teaching establishments for non-profit purposes.

The students follow a scenario in which a shower company (Modern Showering) engages a recruitment consultancy (Sunshine Employment Consultants) to obtain a short-list of candidates for a board-level accounting appointment. The students must understand their client’s requirements; produce suitable (newspaper) advertisements; review the returned CVs; order these in suitability according to the students own selection criteria; produce candidate-specific and general interview questions; make a presentation outlining their recommended candidates and finally write an essay reflecting on how it all went.

The site is freely available as a “taster” version. The full set of materials is protected by a username/password system. Users of the full site have to abide by the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share Alike Licences and so on first use they are required to acknowledge and accept the licence conditions.
